Venture House

The House is a single-storey building with oil-fired central heating, offering a well-equipped and easily run base for a Brownie Holiday, Guide Holiday, Patrol Leaders’ Training, or similar activity for up to twenty-five residents and five day visitors.
There is a spacious dining room/playroom and a large newly refurbished kitchen with two electric cookers, microwave oven, fridge/freezer and all necessary cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery provided. Guiders have their own room in which to relax.
The dormitory has eighteen beds. The Pack Leaders’ room sleeps two (bunk beds), and there are two double rooms (bunk beds) and one single room for adults. Two pillows and three blankets are supplied for each visitor and all rooms have wardrobes. Visitors should provide sleeping bags or sheets, pillow cases and towels.
The First Aid room for emergency use has its own bed, blankets and 2 pillows and a flush toilet accessible by wheelchair.
There is an automatic washing machine which is also for use by others on site.
Bathroom facilities comprise a shower, wash basins with hot and cold water and flush toilets. Separate Guiders toiler/wash room.
In the Drying Room there is a spin dryer and ironing board, brushes, mops etc.
In the Porch there is storage space for outdoor clothing and wellingtons - also a supply of sitting ground sheets. There is a play area at the side of the Venture House and visitors have access to the fields and the dell. (During the camping season occupants of the Venture House are expected to keep to the paths, but the site is large and there is plenty of room for outdoor activities). Booking charges include the cost of heating and electricity. The Venture House has a pay-telephone.
The Venture House is available all year except December and January.
Guiders applying to book must hold the appropriate qualifications for the section they are accompanying to the Venture House and all adults on residential events must be registered Guiders/unit helpers and/or have completed the CRB procedure through Girlguiding UK.
VENTURE HOUSE BOOKINGS - Bookings should be made through the Secretary at the Girlguiding Manchester but please note that priority is given to Brownies from Manchester County during their school holidays, but Units from outside and other bookings are welcome at any time.
